Proper Irish Whiskey Ginger

Ingredients: Makes 1 Serving

  • 2 ozĀ Irish Whiskey
  • 1/5 oz ginger syrup
  • 4 ozĀ soda water
  • lime wedge

Ginger syrup recipe:

  • 5 inches fresh ginger root
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup water

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil and stir in the brown sugar until it dissolves.
  2. Slice the ginger and add it in.
  3. Simmer for 3 minutes; it should smell like ginger.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the ginger steep for 30+ minutes.
  5. Strain and cool the mixture.
  6. Fill a glass with ice and add theĀ Irish Whiskey, ginger syrup, and soda water.
  7. Stir and garnish with a lime wedge.
