Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 2 oz peppermint schnapps
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 2 cups whole milk (or your preferred milk alternative)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar (or sweetener of choice)
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Crushed candy canes (for garnish)


  

How to make Santa's Nightcap

  1. Heat the Milk: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk until it begins to steam (but don’t let it boil).
  2. Make the Cocoa Base: Whisk in the cocoa powder, sugar, and chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Add Flavorings: Stir in the vanilla extract. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  4. Spike It: Stir in the peppermint schnapps and vodka. Adjust the schnapps to taste if you prefer a stronger peppermint flavor.
  5. Serve: Pour the hot cocoa into mugs. Add a generous swirl of whipped cream and sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
